Dancing Bear Sculpture moved to Southern California and will be seeking Gallery representation in the Palm Springs area.
My path to becoming a sculpture artist has been a self directed one, combining my love of bears and nature with my sculpting. From the first bear I carved to the current assortment of carvings, the Dancing Bears have always been my favorites. I enjoy working with my hands and stone carving, while being a challenge, is also a lasting and pleasing way to express one’s love of nature.

The first show I entered was the Bellevue Arts Fair in 2004 and since then my sculptures have been on display and sold in art shows and  galleries in western Washington.  I enjoy carving in all kinds of stone, although I prefer soapstone and alabaster because of the feel and beautiful coloring. Stone sculpture is a wonderful medium because it welcomes human touch and is a natural resource.

I use a variety of tools in sculpting my carvings. The larger sculptures are a challenge to work with at the start but become easier to handle as I remove everything that’s not part of the bear. I will lose almost thirty percent of the stone’s weight by the time the sculpture is finished. The first time I truly see the actual color in the stone is when I start wet sanding before applying the final finish.
